Leonard Michael Coble

Leonard Michael “Mike” Coble was born July 29, 1947 in Rockingham, North Carolina. He is the son of Paul and Virginia Coble. Mike is a 1970 graduate of Holmes Bible College. He is married to the former Elizabeth Gray of Robersonville, North Carolina. Mike and Elizabeth have two daughters, Michelle and Elizabeth, and three grandsons, Noah, Silas, and Cross.

Mike is a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was saved at the age of eight in the old Pee Dee Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rockingham, North Carolina. Most of his early years he was reared in the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was called to preach when he was in high school. Mike entered Holmes Bible College in 1966, he was licensed in 1967 and ordained in 1969.

In his 43 years of pastoral ministry Mike has pastored 4 churches: Hamlet (1970-1973), Harmon Memorial (1973-1976), Rehobeth (1976-1990), and Maxton (1990-until present). Mike served 12 years on the Christian Education Board (1986-1998). In 2006 he was appointed the Elder of the Laurinburg District and a member of the Conference Executive Council.

Mike was “Pastor of the Year” in 2009 for churches 0-75 members. He served on the “2010 Centennial Committee” marking the 100 year anniversary of the South Carolina Conference. He wrote the section on Christian Education for the book, “Our First 100 Years”. He presently serves as chairman of the Maxton Housing Authority and a board member of Opportunities Incorporated with the Laurinburg Housing Authority. Mike is active in the Ministerial Alliance in the town of Maxton and served as chairman for 16 years. He is currently serving a 4 year term on the Falcon Children’s Home Board.
