Mark Potter Jr.Rev. Mark Potter, Jr., 58, died Saturday, December 25, 1997 in an automobile accident. Rev. Potter was born in New Bern, NC, a son of the late Mark Potter, Sr. and Hannah Davis Potter. He was a graduate of New Bern High School and Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA. He began preaching in 1964 at the Aiken Pentecostal Holiness Church and served the following churches: Holy Trinity of Andrews, Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness.

He was elected assistant superintendent of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, South Carolina Conference in 1985 and has served as superintendent of the conference in 1993.

He was a member of the General Board of Administration of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Emmanuel College Board of Education, Franklin Springs, GA, Southwestern College Board of Education, Oklahoma City, OK, and Falcon Children’s Home Board, Falcon, NC. He was a past member of the South Carolina Nation Guard. He co-chaired as Disaster Relief Coordinator in conjunction with the American Red Cross. He was chaplain of the South Lynches Fire Department, an active firefighter, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters.

All money goes to the Mark Potter Junior Scholarship. It supports students that attend Emmanuel College, Holmes Bible College and the SC Conference School of Ministries.
